A lovely crisp morning was the setting at Manor Farm Country Park for race 5 of the Southern League cross county league.
A much improved start of the race allowed the runners to spread out for the 5 mile course. With the ground being frozen, there was the added option of ice skating half way round the course. Luckily everyone stayed on their feet. Within our girls team we were trying two different race tactics – Dry January versus Hangover Cure. It seems Dry January was the winner!
The sandwiches, cakes and drinks at the end are always exceptional. Results were processed fast allowing us to celebrate over our cups of tea. Our men came 2nd, women 11th. Overall we were joint 6th. Well done everyone as it keeps Waverley Harriers 4th in the league with one race to go.
The Waverley Harriers team consisted of
Philly Staddon, Beth Good, Steph Bird, Ruth Lyon, Kat Hobbs, Claire Chappell, Chris Peck, John McKenna, Mark Hobbs, Mark Rowland, Owen Kemp, James Williamson, Mike Melrose, James Burnard, Luke Staddon, Ian Campbell
Next Race: Sunday 26th February 11am at Polecat Valley, Haslemere
