A great start to 2017 saw 27 Waverley Harriers turn up to the muddiest cross country course of the season. With torrential rain the day before, we were lucky to arrive to glorious sunshine, if a little chilly.
The start is chaotic as all the runners go across a playing field before hitting the main course which is mainly mud and lots of it. A two lap course including a steep hill towards the end. Everyone survived without any falls.
The results were announced whilst we were busy tucking in to sandwiches, cakes and tea provided by Hart Road Runners. Our men came 3rd, ladies 8th and overall 4th for the day. It means with 4 races complete Waverley Harriers are 4th in the league.
The Waverley Harriers team consisted of
Christine Robinson, Harriet Betteridge, Julie Sellar, Philly Staddon, Stef Bird, Emily Wagner, Claire Chappell, Rachel Greener, Amy Waring, Chris Peck, John McKenna, Mark Hobbs, Owen Kemp, Neil Boosey, James Burnard, Dave Newby, JP Pritchard, Jesper Lidstrom, Jon Evison, Luke Staddon, Dan Burton, Owen Kimber, Dominic Male, David Male, Bill Fordham, Paddy Clark, Ian Campbell
