North Dorset Villages Marathon 4th May

After the flurry of city marathons over the last few weeks it seems like I’m one of the last club members to run a spring marathon. Well at last I got my chance over the bank holiday weekend – travelling down to North Dorset to run this very low key event (just 300 marathoners).

This is my idea of the perfect road marathon – no crowds, scenic green lanes and some ups and downs which keeps it interesting although definitely not PB potential. It’s a great route for spectators too – Cindi was able to cycle around the course and encourage me at various points. I would thoroughly recommend this event to other club members for next year.

I was pleasantly surprised with my time of 3:25 – a few minutes slower than last year despite having valiantly tried to go faster, but a few hills towards the end put paid to that.

Next up South Downs Marathon 21st June 2014. Anyone else up for that?

  1. Really Andrew, do you have to look so calm and fresh on a marathon?! Congrats on an excellent time.
