Race to the King
When did running begin for you?
When I was a teenager, I started taking part in tetrathlon competitions (shooting, swimming, running and horse riding) and found that I really enjoyed the running element of that. We had a lovely chemistry teacher at school who would take a group of us out running up hills at lunchtime or drive us to the xc championships at the weekend. So running became a really positive, sociable activity quite early on for me. And I’ve just stuck with it through the years, although mainly on my own until I found the Harriers!
Why do you run?
It’s a great way to get out in the fresh air and stay fit. I also find it really good stress relief and a nice way to socialise.

Treasure Hunt
What club activities/events will we likely see you at?
Tuesday track session and Sunday cross country events.
How long have you been with the club?
Since 2019

Race to the King
What race or moment in your running career holds the most significance and why?
Completing Race to the King with James and a few other Harriers just after Covid times. It was 85k split over 2 days (camping overnight) and it made me feel like anything is possible with my running.
Who is your running inspiration?
Hmm, I’m not sure I really have one. Maybe my dad. He’s always kept himself really fit and it took me until my early 20s to be able to beat him at a 10k (despite the fact I had been on the Scottish tetrathlon squad and doing loads of training with that).

Westpark Parkrun Germany
What event, past or present, would you like to take part in and why?
Not sure it counts as an event, but I’d like to run/walk the West Highland way at some point.
What golden piece of advice would you give to other runners?
To make sure running stays fun! There’ll always be less good sessions where the weather is awful or you’re feeling extra tired but I think it’s important to make sure they don’t become the majority.

Whats Next
Nothing major. I’m really looking forward to getting back to running after a few months off to have a baby. Hopefully I’ll be back ready to do some local events by the end of summer!
