Coronavirus Update:

17/03/2020: Advice to clubs and athletes from England Athletics regarding coronavirus can be found here.

16/03/2020: Our Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday sessions are now cancelled until further notice. This is in accordance with the latest advice from the government regarding unnecessary social contact.

We will be in touch by email to all club members as soon as we are able to resume our weekly sessions. In the meantime, stay fit and healthy. We hope to see you all again soon.

Welcome to Waverley Harriers

We are a small and friendly running club based in the Godalming and Farncombe area of Surrey, just south of Guildford. The club has runners of all ages and abilities, from those looking to improve their fitness through to those that run marathons and ultras. We meet regularly for both informal runs and structured training sessions both on and off-road. We take part in the Southern Cross Country League during the winter months and many of our members take part in local races all year round.

Come and join us!

If you are looking for a friendly local running club in the Godalming, Farncombe or Guildford area of Surrey, then look no further! We're always looking for new members to join. Feel free to join us for two or three runs before deciding whether the club is right for you.

Training

Track_350x250

We have several training sessions each week. Our main meeting is the Thursday evening run from Godalming (trail during the summer and on road during the darker winter months).

Tuesday evenings are for our performance training sessions, alternating between the Charterhouse track and the hills of Godalming. Sunday mornings are time for a longer trail run, usually leaving from Godalming town centre.

Please do feel free to come along to two or three runs before joining the club.

Juniors

Waverley Harriers also has an active Junior athletics section for children.

The Juniors train on a Tuesday evening. During the summer months we train for track and field at Charterhouse school. For the winter months we train indoors. We also compete in the Wessex track & field league and the Border cross-country league.

Couch to 5k

Never run before? Want to start running?

We aim to run two ‘Couch to 5k’ groups each year for complete beginners to running. The group starting in autumn 2019 is now fully subscribed, with our next group planned for spring 2020. We'll post more details here once 2020 registrations are open.

In the meantime Godalming leisure centre runs regular C25k groups and other groups are advertised on runtogether. Many of our members get started themselves via the C25k app. We hope to see you running soon!

As you all know by now, I’m Nikki and I’m about to run my first marathon (current circumstances permitting). To help with this and to help other first timers, I’m asking as many people in the club about their marathon experiences as I can. I’m hoping we’ll be able to create a WH marathon knowledge […]

On the Spot (meet the team) – Mark Hobbs

Position/Role? I’m a run leader (most often at track on Tuesdays) and also the WHRC Leaders & Training Co-Ordinator (we never did work out a snappier title). What does that involve? Making sure we have adequate numbers of leaders to cover our weekly sessions, keeping an eye on the training rota, encouraging new people to […]

Nikki’s Marathon Monday – Week 5 – Jon Lawrence

I’m still Nikki and I’m still in training for my first marathon. There’s been some highs and lows pver the past couple of weeks. The wind has not been helpful, but I have been lucky, in that I’ve only been rained on, properly, once during a training run. I’m very thankful for that. This week, […]

Nikki’s Marathon Monday – Week 4 – Annette Lee

I’m Nikki and I’m still on the (seemingly) never ending path of training for my first marathon. To help with this (seemingly) enormous task, I’m speaking to as many WH members who’ve run a marathon as I can, in a bid to pick up tips and tricks to get me through the training and the […]
