The 4th annual running of the Surrey Half marathon, saw a turnout of 29 Waverley Harriers. There were strong performances with a number of PB’s. Overall there was some great running in the build up to the upcoming Spring marathons. The event showed just how much our club has grown in recent years. It was fantastic to see so many people sporting club colours.
The day kicked off with a 5K race. Mark Rowland did the club proud by coming 2nd in the race with a stunning time. Inspired by this, the half marathon got underway and all runners were greeted with a downpour in the first few miles. This didn’t put a dampener on the event though, which is well organised and supported throughout.
The course doubles back on itself around half way, providing a great way of cheering on and encouraging fellow Harriers. Next year will see many return to what is a very enjoyable and ever more popular local event.
