31st March 2020
Well that’s week one done. At least the weather was kind to us. Thanks to all of you who have taken part in our various challenges and activities.
The Chain
We have a new challenge for you starting on Wednesday, 1st April. ‘The Chain’ is a relay race in which any of you can take part, whether you run outside or round and round your kitchen. If you can spare 15 minutes between 06:30 and 20:00 then click here for more information and to sign up.

Can’t Run? Watch Instead
Our video recommendation for the week comes courtesy of Matt Bevan.
‘Unbreakable’ is the story of the 2010 Western States Endurance Run, a 100-mile trail race through the hills and canyons of California featuring some of the greatest ultra runners of the day.
You can watch it for free here (but only for a limited time).

Animal Magic
We had some fantastic (and one or two suspicious) entries for the weekend’s animal challenge.
First prize though surely has to go to Peter Aiello who not only sought out some animal art but took the time to create some. Thanks Peter!
Welfare
Don’t forget that we are here if you need somebody to talk to. Consider signing up for Facebook or Strava (if only temporarily) to access club pages, talk to other members and take part in online activities. You can contact us at welfare@waverleyharriers.co.uk if you are struggling at any time.
Session Ideas
Below are last week’s virtual sessions for you to try. If you would like to share pictures or videos of yourself then please send them to communications@waverleyharriers.co.uk and we will post them in next week’s newsletter for other members to enjoy.
Tuesday: 15-20mins warm-up consisting of an easy jog with a few drills for about 20secs each if you can, e.g. high-knees, kick-backs, side-stepping, fast feet etc. Follow this up with a ‘slide’ session made up of efforts of reducing duration: 6min, 5min, 4min, 3min, 2min, 1min with 90 seconds recovery between each. Aim to start steadily and increase your pace with each effort. Finish with a 5min jog to cool down.
Thursday: Option 1 is last week’s Milford Loop – Wilfrid Noyce in Godalming to Milford and back. Option 2 is the Dance of the 7 Roundabouts, starting at Sainsburys car park and heading towards Peasmarsh.
Weekend Challenge: Send us a picture of you with an animal sculpture! Apparently Surrey is awash with them.
Stick to the latest advice, look out for each other and stay tuned for next week’s instalment.
Speak to you next week
